It’s human nature to run when issues arise. We oftentimes look for the easy way out in everything. We run from our job, marriage, relationships, family issues, personal encounters when an issue arise. Maybe it’s our pride and ego that does not allow us to face our problems, knowing that they are a stepping stone to overcoming. It’s through our pain, our wilderness that the lord begins to birth some stuff in our lives. Our lives are transformed from challenge to challenge only if we learn what God requires in our present situation. For example we can move from hurt, to unforgiveness to bitterness to love through our challenge what i call the overcoming process. The very thing we run from is the very thing through which our blessing and anointing come through. So don’t run, like David change your attitude stand strong in the lord! Behave wisely, “Is there not a cause”. (1 Samuel 17 – 18)
From rejected to uplifted
David was what we called the forgotten son. He was the shepherd of the family the one that was treated like a servant in his father’s household- we can call this his challenge. David as a young man was very faithful and humble. Traits that no doubt brought him closer to the heart of God. I can imagine how David delighted himself in the lord and spoke to him when carrying out his duties (the psalmist), looking at the bright side of what he had to endure, yet wanting God’s will to be effected in his life. Even though and the bible really didn’t mention much about his relationship with his family you can see hints of him not being appreciated and left out of important stuff that may have being taken place in the house. Yet the lord choose this forgotten son to be king of Israel. Don’t miss out on your opportunity for a blessing by throwing in the towel. Take a different perspective on you situation.
What I admire most about David is that he was not proud. Even though he was not treated as an equal, and even after he was anointed to be king of Israel he still served his family and the present King… see 1 Samuel 17:17-19. You may be ill treated by others, talked about, cast aside, but you know what, Jesus endured a lot when he was on earth yet he said love your enemies and do good to them that persecute you. “Wow! that is a hardcore different perspective, something we too should possess”. Jesus also said to serve your master (Ephesians 6: 5-8), whether they are good or bad our duty is to honor those in authority; your boss, parents, pastors, government. Instead of fighting back fight in love, the truth of God’s word really is the channel through which you can be set free.
In the midst of your storm operate in love, peace, joy, longsuffering and see yourself being uplifted even when things around don’t seem all good.
Face your Giant, you are an overcomer
David learnt how to be a man of war as a shepherd. In his ‘lowly’ state he had to prepare by taking on a lion and a bear… see 1 Samuel 17:34-37. Through that defeat his faith was elevated, he got a confidence boost, he knew that God was with him. He was not able to defeat the giant in his own strength but with the attitude that the Lord is by my side, he was able to operate in the authority he had in the Lord…see 1 Samuel 17:45-47.
Matthew 18: 18 says “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. I have come to realise that the enemy has already being defeated, remind him that he is. We oftentimes allow him to ‘reign’ as though he is not, by the focus and attention we give to him though faultfinding, accusations, gossip, slander, worry etc. Revelation 12: 10 spoke of the heavens rejoicing because the accuser of the brethren (who accused them before our God day and night) was defeated and cast down. When we let the accusations of the enemy allow us to slip away into refute, we give him authority over our lives. Day and night the scripture says, he will always try and when he can’t get through he will target everything that concerns us … see verse 17. The dragon which represents the enemy was not able to get at the woman which can represents us, so he went after her offspring (anything that is dear to us). He has been defeated we have to operate as an overcomer, and not allow his devices and mind games to get at us. If you fall bounce back up, he wants us to fall and stay in a fallen state, done give in, press forward.
If the enemy can’t get someone to accuse you, he will use you to accuse you (make you feel as though you are not good enough), that is why we have to constantly guard our minds and hearts, because out of it flows the issues of life. You have the mind of christ, so say what Jesus will say. All that you are praying for the enemy would not sit by and allow it to happen, he will fight us for the will of God for our lives. When the opposite comes know that the enemy is trying all that he can to get us to lose our focus on God. Keep trusting, and declaring the word of God over your life.
Don’t exalt the opposites by talking about it and magnifying it change your attitude and perspective.
Love you guys! 🙂
