We need covenant people in our lives as christians, these people meet us at our point of need. They speak to us by the leading of the spirit, they speak into our lives by their experiences and directing us in christ principles. They are there to judge us upward and not down, a hand in need, just there to supply. I take this time again to say thank you lord for the covenant relationships In my life, continue to feed their spirit as they continue to feed mines and others.
Do you often feel the prompting of the spirit to speak to someone to say hi, how are you, have a good day, or to say God loves you? Is it enough to say, well I have Jesus and I wish they can to? What are you doing with the word that God has planted on the inside of you?. It’s time to establish covenant relationships and impact your generation for Christ. Romans 8: 14 says for as many as are led by the spirit of God, these are the sons of God. Oh how I want this title, “A son of God”. I said all this to say don’t quench the prompting of the spirit that requires you to get close to someone to show that someone Jesus.
A covenant is established by the shedding of blood. Examples of biblical covenants are:
- Marriage: where the husband and wife are bound together by the shedding of blood on the marriage bed, where the two became one, no longer I or you but we. In this covenant relationship each member has to die to self. The family is birthed in this covenant.
- The death and resurrection of Christ: where divine exchange took place. Christ shed his blood on the cross to establish a new relationship, where christ in me the hope of Glory (Galatians 2:20). When you give yourself away in this covenant relationship you say lord no more me,I need more of you, I belong to you. In this covenant we have place where we die to self daily, for Devine exchange to be manifested.
Covenant with the Father
Jesus came to reveal the father to an orphan earth. For our covenant with the lord to be established we have to die everyday to self, for others and for our brothers and sisters, revealing the father in every relationship we form on the earth. In Matthew 26:26-28 before Jesus died he established a covenant with his disciples, the scripture says “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Jesus in this moment depicted what was to happen to him, allowing his disciples to partake in this new covenant. Take note, all took part, even the one that was planning to betray him.
Judas represents the orphan son that wants the intimacy, sonship without the relationship.
Its our choice this day what we will do with this ultimate covenant relationship. Will you seek after intimacy, sonship and a relationship with the father, or will you be like Judas. He so desired intimacy with the father, he was around him, taught by him, in his company but he did not want a relationship with him. He did not want to go deeper, he was all about self.
