Your house will go through the rains, it’s therefore important that is built upon the rock. Jesus taught in Matthew 7:24-27 saying “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” The place where you build is more important than what you build. How important it is to know the word of God and live it. let’s make a decision daily to get into the word of God and feed our spirit, build on the rock, so when issues of life (doubt, fear, etc.) come we can look them in the face and say, “no devil! I know who my God is and what his promises to me are”.
Order must take place
The glory does not precede the washing, sometimes we being impatient beings want the glory of God but we do not want to subject ourselves to the washing. The unwise guy tries to get the glory first but he cannot get there, first order must take place. Similarly we want God but we don’t want to have a covenant relationship with him. Ephesians 5: 26-27 says …”that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. In this chapter reference is being made to marrage and the church. The washing here is done by delving into the word allowing that covenant relationship with Christ to be formed as we allow the word to reflect us and change us. This way we are prepared as a bride, equipping our character for service.
There can be no forgiveness of sin without proper repentance. When there is repentance there is a change of mind and behaviour.
God gave us the tabernacle to pattern our lives according, we should be vessels that fill ourselves up with the word of God, that when we overflow our mind will flow in the principles of God. When we fill up and wash up (which comes through repentance), we will be overflowing with the glory. No longer can one man enter into the glory but all of us (Romans 9:12), since the shedding of the blood of the lamb (Jesus), since we were baptised into his death (Romans 6:3). When we wash in the word the word will judge us as James 1: 22 -25 says: But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Let the word of God reflect who you are, your identity your character. For if we judge ourselves we would not be judged (1 Corinthians 11:31).
It’s about that time for us to take a spiritual selfie. When we are about washing everyday, when God says “leave that there”: that attitude, that mind set, we will. Who we are should be constant with who he is. If we only fill up he will fill us up.
