The thief comes but only to steel to kill and to destroy. Our adversary does not want to see us living an overcomers life so he will try to invade our lives and our minds with old issues. Don’t be slighted when you have to face the same trial again.
I once heard in a teaching that the enemy does not have the ability to make us sin or even to make us backslide, he only has the power to make us believe his lies. Who are you listening to today? Does your thoughts of who you are and where you are, align with the word of God? If there is anything we think or trust in that is outside the parameters of the word of God we are being distracted.
Are you distracted?
Our trials can be a strategy used by the enemy to take our eyes off God. The psalmist in psalms 73:28 says “But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.” Think on this for a moment, the lord is near to those who call on him. Calling on God and putting him first should be our number one strategy against the enemy. He hates when we call on God and draw near, he will try to block us with every weakness possible – be careful, respond within the parameters of God’s word.
When we are far from God or distracted, what we talk about can have us in a state of depression – the place where our problems seems bigger than our God.
Let’s pay attention to what we say and what we believe about our situation. Hebrews 10:22-23 depicts what we should believe at all times, “let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
How can I draw near?
Think about love and how you feel when you love someone. Our God is love himself, all he does represents his love for us, all love wants is to be is near to us, near in conversation, worship, commitment, covenant, relationship. For God so love the world that he gave his only son! Love sacrifices. Jesus wasn’t joking when he said in Matthew 6:33 to seek first the kingdom and his righteousness… It’s because when we draw near the distractions fade, we see the problems for what they really are. They are there to complete us to bring us to that place of perfection and patience.
It’s time to say no to the distractions and draw near to God. Our salvation depends on it, our peace, happiness, relationships, jobs, children, you name it our nation depends on this one principle. For it’s good for me to draw near to God.
