Delight yourself in the lord

Ever often I hear the scripture, “Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart”. While soaking it in, i had one question, “Lord how can I delight in you”?

Well I must say, I googled it…lol. Delight means to take pleasure. Someone that is a delight is pleasant, a joy to be around, encouraging, obedient, knows who they are. Whenever I picture delight, I see someone in a free flowing outfit dancing in the rain and not getting wet. That in itself seems crazy, but that is delight to me. The freedom in the spirit to worship, to please God, without focus on the external. This level of worship exists only when there is trust. With this level of trust there is a divine commitment to ensuring that everything is on point and perfect. It’s hard to explain but I hope that the image I present opens your understanding of the level of delight God wants from us.

The person I see dancing in the rain is not concern or even aware that it is raining. They are so much at rest and peace in the presence of the father that all they desire is to please him in that form of worship. Our life is worship unto the father and if we can delight in him as the image of the person dancing in the rain and not getting wet. The place where our focus is on the presence of God, the kingdom of God, on pleasing him. The place where no attention is given to the external; our situations, our cares. We begin to be a delight, we are free to love, to sing, dance, honor, represent Christ. Where our image and sanity is not even a concern, but we just delight…

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:4-5‬ ‭NKJV

It’s my prayer that our life will represent our father in every way. God bless you and have a spirit filled week.

  1. Sound words Delisa. It takes faith and sometimes an experience of God’s Person to always delight in the Lord, through thick and thin, as well as in the most pleasant times.
More of Lord Jesus to you.
