Before I begin a post I would usually write down the title then build on it. But in this case I was in my mind for a bit thinking about my dad and my mom and what I would do or how I would feel if I lose them. I know right a weird thing to think about. Even worst I thought about what if I didn’t have the relationship with them that I wanted and still lost them. I really love my parents and I try my best to honor them as they ought to be.
The love for family shouldn’t be inspired by whether or not they wronged us or if they have shortfalls or what we can get but it should be basing on love in itself. Let’s make a change now, no new years resolution because that is normal, let’s be extraordinary and love, love family.
Love the choice.
As emotional beings and yes that applies to men as well because we are all emotional: created by a God that so loves us he laid down the life of his only begotten son for us, we chose who we “love”. At this point I am way beyond love as a feeling, I am talking about love being kindness, patience, temperance, forgiving, trusting, hoping (see 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7), the source of our emotional connection.
If I choose to be kind to someone I am love. The kindness I show to others is me loving them, maybe it will be more easier for us to say I love you and not be weird out by it. To say that he is or she is family means that I choose to love them no matter what. On the other hand, now comes the tough question. If you love___(family) why don’t you show it? It’s not ok to say I love you, you are my family but I can’t stand you. That is not love. What if our father God said, you know what I tired to be nice to man and they kept doing there own thing. What then be our portion? Instead his love is unconditional.
Pick a person(s), I too have some broken family relationships I would like mended. Lets pray everyday for this relationship and pursue that person and love them. Show interest and by doing so let’s live life and create a better world. One where love is important and the first choice. We can do this by take the following scripture and making it practical, put a spin on it if you like, brand it with your name and let’s get to it.
Our Scriptures tell us that if you see your enemy hungry, go buy that person lunch, or if he’s thirsty, get him a drink. Your generosity will surprise him with goodness. Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good.
