How long shall I be with you?

Didn’t want to write one of those mushy 2017 reflection posts but here it goes. I really want to thank God for 2017, I call this year my growth year, the year I went deeper in him, the year I had to let go of self and past hurts. I got to see so much people close to me choose a relationship with Jesus, and there will be more!

God is so awesome, I must say. He has brought me to a place of emotional stability, character development, forgiveness and love. “Continue to work on me Lord, cause without you I am a mess”. My passion is to see people living a liberated life in him, where renewed life is not just mere words but a lifestyle.

In mark 9:19, the scripture says, “He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” The story surrounding this text was about the disciples not being able to cast out the mute spirit from someone. Jesus response was how long shall I be with you. Imagine being with Jesus for so long and considering him to be your teacher, rabbi and he asked how long shall I be with you, when you had the chance to prove your belief? That will be embarrassing, it’s like he is asking have you not learnt anything from me. These men were with Jesus everyday and they still didn’t pick up his routine. He took time to pray, he fasted, He relied on the leading of the father. For this new year and season let’s remember this question Jesus asked. Let’s take time to study the teachings and life of Jesus to be more effective in driving out that thing that keeps us dry and down. Remove the veil that separates us from God.

The text continues in verse 28 – 29, “And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” Jesus reiterated the importance of intimacy with God, prayer and fasting.

Consistency in Prayer is so important, let’s draw from the life of Jesus. He took time off to pray, the place where he sort direction, teaching from the father. Without this he could not have done or known the father’s will.

Happy 2018 y’all! God’s Richest Blessings…
