If the greatest thing that ever happened in your life is your relationship with Christ then who knows?
Very resent at church we had a bible study about the Samaritan woman at the well and how she encountered Jesus (read John 4). Her transformation was so fast, she transitioned from a place of being stand-offish about this man talking to her and he was a Jew, because Jews and Samaritans in those days didn’t mix, to a place where she was saying, give me this living water, could this be the Christ, come and see a man. Her encounter with Jesus happened probably within a couple of hours, she was so excited and enlightened she left her water pot. She couldn’t wait to share Jesus with those of whom she had influence. In our daily lives, who are those people that God has strategically placed us as influencers and stewards of and we holdback the greatest gift from them?
Our work of ministry
The word of God says, “they that hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled”. I believe that the earth is hungry for God and they are not conscious of it. Our fire and hunger for God has to be the fuel (same as the Samaritan woman) to turn our sphere of influence to God. The word says, “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” John 4:39 NKJV
We have to love others enough to share the love of Christ, let’s challenge ourselves as believers to target persons in our lives and spread the Gospel to to them. Pray about, God will give the strategy and the right time. The woman went to the men to tell them about Jesus, she couldn’t have gone to persons she had no influence over, her words would not have had any weight.
What touched me about this story is that the word says Jesus needed to go through Samaria (John 4:4). God is amazing, he places us in some uncomfortable, you shouldn’t be here situations to bring light to dark places. This woman heard of living water (John 4:14-16) the kind that will make you never thirst again and cause life. She didn’t fully understand what Jesus was talking about but she know that this would be something that she needed, she wouldn’t have to go to the well again. When Jesus saw that she didn’t understand he keep talking to her, he didn’t just say ok, bye. He pursed her further despite her present level of understanding, despite his lifestyle, her dress. He spoke to her about worship, the father, and who God is. It was in his pursuit of her that the eyes of her understanding was enlightened. She said; I know the messiah is coming (who is called the Christ) and when he comes he will tell us all things. It was at that point Jesus chose to reveal himself to her, talk about strategy and the right time. Her understanding of the Christ allowed him to reveal himself to her. When she received revelation knowledge a fire was lite on the inside she couldn’t keep quite or continue with what she came to the well to do, draw water. Our hunger for the lord must cause transformation to take place, one that spreads to others.
“The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
John 4:28-29 NKJV
Let’s be vessels through which our father can do work. Tell the world, your sphere about the greatest gift.
Scriptures to meditate on:
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:23-24 NKJV
“But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”
John 4:32, 34 NKJV
