Guys, no matter how much you deny it the wedding is all about The Bride. Her dress, colors, shoes, makeup every decision is made in relation to her presentation to her husband. Presentation (on the external) is what is revealed in the pictures taken on that day and we women aim for bridal perfection. This year I have been in a who is he and where is he mode till I realize that I am a bride before I become a bride. You guessed it, we are The Bride of Christ.
The Bride of Christ
When I understand that I am his bride before I become a bride I was able to enjoy my single season and not see it as my waiting period. As The bride of Christ he wants me without spot and wrinkle, cleaned and washed by his word and submitted to him as my head until my physical covering comes (my husband). As I learn submission and obedience to God this actually helped me with every other relationship in my life.
Ephesians 5:25- 27 is not just talking about the relationship between husband and wives but it’s referring to the relationship we as the church (the called out assembly) should have with Christ as his bride. It say “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”
How do you love as the bride? How do you keep clean and sanctified as the bride? If Christ presents you, his bride, to the father can you be presented without spot and wrinkles? These questions are those that should drive us everyday to live in the presence of God daily always cleansing in our devotion time allowing his word to transform our love, thoughts, responses to our season our attitude and behaviors.
On that presentation day as the bride walks down the aisles to her husband all that the husband feels is pride a sense of knowing that yes! she is mine 😂. Let’s picture the spiritual presentation of the spotless, pure, beautiful blushing bride before the one waiting to receive her. That’s how Christ should see us living; presented, submitted before him.
When I am submitted it’s easy for me to honor, it becomes easy for me to remain pure for my husband, it becomes my priority to learn of him and know his heart, become his friend, knowing how I should please him daily. The Christ in us is the hope of that glory, the glorious church, submitted to his way loving him through our obedience.
Hello Bride! presentation time is in progress, let’s remain washed.
